Nintendo has released a new list of its best-selling software, and while it does include some titles one should expect, a new game has made its way to the list. Ring shaped adventure, the 2019 fitness game, took 10th place on the list.

Nintendo itself has been doing well since the Switch launched. The console, launched in 2017, is still selling well. That’s despite a revised version of the console, the Switch OLED, released later this year. However, the Switch’s biggest success has been in software sales. According to Nintendo’s List its best-selling securities sales units, Ring shaped adventure has sold 11.26 million units so far, surpassing the console’s previous 10th bestseller, New Super Mario Bros. Deluxe.

Of course, some pillars are still on the list and are unlikely to be outdated. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons are the best and second best selling games on the Nintendo console, with 37.08 million and 33.89 million units sold, respectively. Considering that the Switch itself has sold just over 89 million units in its lifetime, that means more than a third of all Switch users own one or both. Notably though, are the Switch’s total software sales. The small console has apparently been a huge software seller for Nintendo, with over 632.40 million units of software sold to date. comparatively, the only other Nintendo hardware that has managed to sell so much software is the Wii, with 921.85 million units sold, and the Nintendo DS, with 948.74 million units sold.

Used Nintendo Switch locked parental controls are always on

Well, I learned a lesson about video game consoles yesterday, and it’s definitely worth sharing with my fellow parents. My son Chase asked for a SWITCH for a while now, and I’ve cracked and bought him one at Evansville Toys & Games.

I researched Nintendo consoles and tried to find where I could get the best price. I was heading to a big box store until I checked out Evansville Toys and Games Facebook Page. Our friend Daniel Barritt had one in stock at a great price, so I’m really glad I thought about buying local!

Just like any Liberty story, this one doesn’t end in drama. I was delighted to set up the SWITCH before Chase came home, and it would have happened IF I could have guessed the previous owner’s 4-digit code, or just called the customer service line before going over an hour of trying to figure it out. In fact, the parental controls had locked the SWITCH, preventing me from doing a full reset. I filled out the form online, but their site thought my zip code was wrong … OK. So I asked my husband if he could call and get it fixed because it was good after my nap. In 3 minutes, it was like new – Lesson learned!

What have we learned here? If you are planning to sell a digital device, you really need to reset it completely. Usually there is an option to revert to factory settings. If you don’t know how, look for tutorials on Youtube. This is literally how I understood it!

Monster Hunter Stories 2 is the most downloaded Switch game in July

Nintendo has released its official ranking of the most downloaded games for the month of July 2021, with Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin taking the first place. A total of 20 games have been listed for the month of July. The list includes Monster Hunter Rise and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD. However, this list is exclusively in Japanese. Additionally, specific figures regarding downloads were not disclosed. [Thanks, Game Watch!]

As previously mentioned, Monster Hunter Stories 2 took the # 1 spot as the most downloaded game on Nintendo Switch in July 2021. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD occupies the second place. Crayon Shin-chan Ora in Hakase no Natsuyasumi then occupies third place on the list. Other notable titles include Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights in point 10 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in point 11. Monster Hunter Rise is at place 17.

Previously, Nintendo shared that Monster Hunter Rise was the most downloaded title in the first half of 2021. Monster Hunter Rise continued to climb the charts, earning its spot as Capcom’s best-selling single platform.

In July 2021, Capcom announced that sales of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin had exceeded one million units worldwide. This included both downloaded and physical sales of the title.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is immediately available for Nintendo Switch and PC.
