Taiko No Tatsujin: Festival of Rhythm is available now on Nintendo Switch, with digital versions accessible on Nintendo eShop. There is also a physical edition although it is scheduled for October 7th.
Players can choose between the Standard Edition and the Digital Deluxe Edition. The latter comes with 90-day access to the Taiko Music Pass, which includes an additional 500 songs. The Taiko Music Pass, either 30-day or 90-day access, can be purchased separately.
In Taiko No Tatsujin: Festival of Rhythm, players go on a journey through a music festival in the town of Omiko. They will be guided by DON-Chan and the new character Kumo-Kyun.
The game offers different modes for everyone to play, practice and master digital Taiko drums to their favorite songs, including pop hits and video game classics. There are 76 songs available right now, with these new tracks:
- “Feeling Special”
- “Running in the Night”
As mentioned, there are several modes for players. In Story mode, players compete to be a Taiko master, while multiplayer modes allow for online battles. Then there’s the “Couch Co-op” Party mode where you can play with friends and compete with them in fun mini-games like the “Great Drum Toy War”. Finally, there is the Taiko mode for endless play and practice.
The game also features an engaging customization system that allows players to earn “Don Coins” as they play to acquire fun in-game items like costumes and nameplates, which count in-game.
In a statement, Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. Senior Brand Manager Dan Ham shared that after a four-year hiatus, this drum beat game is back with new features and all-new music. He added that this game is a good addition to the franchise, especially with its online battles and party mode. Ham went on to say that players can also take advantage of the music subscription service which offers at least 500 songs. There is no doubt that Taiko No Tatsujin: Festival of Rhythm will not only provide a rich experience for returning players, but also serve as a good entry point for new players.
The Taiko No Tatsujin The rhythm game franchise started in 2001 and has since seen numerous titles and song releases. Taiko No Tatsujin: Festival of Rhythm is the first in the series to feature the Taiko Music Pass, giving players access to a catalog of over 500 songs and monthly updates that add new songs.
